I’ve always loved dogs. When I learned about the tens of thousands of dogs that are euthanized each year; abandoned by irresponsible owners or a product of cruel breeding practices, it struck a chord deep within me. At this time in my life, I am in a position to take action, with your help.
However, I want to create something new. Something different. Something that will in time grow bigger than anything I could do alone. The Orange Dog Inc. was born from this idea. My mission with Orange Dog Inc. is to foster the natural bond between dogs and responsible owners, and together, with the help of people like yourself, save as many dogs as possible from those who would harm them. We at Orange Dog Inc. have created the Freedom Flight Program as one way to achieve this goal. My hope is that when you read about the Freedom Flight Program and view the linked videos, you will be inspired to support Orange Dog Inc.

What is Orange Dog Inc
Orange Dog Inc is a non profit organization that just received a charitable foundation status in Canada. We are presently working at achieving this status in the the U.S. Orange Dog is aimed at rescuing helpless small breed dogs from from overcrowded shelters in California where rates of euthanasia are extremely high.
How does Orange Dog Inc rescue these pups?
The Freedom Flights were started in 2009 by Orange Dog Inc. which flys the shelter dogs to their new forever homes in Edmonton Alberta Canada. The name California Canine Cuties is the name given by the Canadian press to these dogs.
How are the Freedom Flights Funded?
The five flights to date have been funded 100% by the founder Jan Folk and all sales of our online dog products at www.orangedog.ca are donated to the flights.
What do you believe is causing the pet overpopulation in California:
We believe it is the puppy mills, inhumane breeding practices and owners believing dogs are “disposable that has been a huge part of the overpopulation problem. Orange Dog strives to eliminate the purchase of animals from anywhere other than a local shelter. The aim is to turn traffic away from puppy mills and pet stores in hopes that one day there will no longer be puppy mills and pet stores will concentrate on sale of products for dogs (and cats) as opposed to selling live animals.
Where do the dogs go once they arrive in Canada:
To date all flights have arrived in Edmonton Alberta Canada and are picked up at the airport by the Edmonton Humane Society – www.edmontonhumanesociety.com The EHS then ensures the pups are all adopted in loving forever homes. The adoption process is lengthy and very detailed before one of the pups are adopted.
How can one adopt an Orange Dog/California Canine Cutie?
To date this can only be done through the Edmonton Humane Society as Orange Dog is NOT an adoption agency. Checking our website www.orangedog.ca will keep everyone updated on when the next plane full of dogs is due to arrive
When is the next Freedom Flight?
We are very excited to announce that next flight is this month – October 27, 2011 – The Gulfstream lll will be loaded with 50 dogs from the Mary S Roberts shelter in Riverside CA early morning of the 27th and the dogs will be settled in at the Edmonton Humane society by mid afternoon. Flight is leaving from Airflite in Long Beach CA and everyone is welcome to come out to help load the dogs or just be part of this amazing event Also the best part of this flight is we have a generous donor sponsoring the entire flight – the TD Waterhouse Bank in Canada has stepped up to help Orange Dog.
